I am based in a lovely village just outside Lincoln.
During my work as an Arborist I was continually giving wood away for burning. This felt like a terrible waste of a beautiful natural resource, so I started to look at ways to create something amazing that I can enjoy doing and which would also bring joy to other people.
I am very lucky to have found a local chainsaw carver, who saw in me a passion similar to his own, and invested his time and resources into helping me learn this amazing skill. He has become my mentor and friend and I am very grateful to him for encouraging and tutoring me.
My sculptures are created from wood that I obtain from a sustainable source. When carving commissions I work closely with the customer to achieve a personally bespoke sculpture. This might simply be a sculpture of something that the customer is fond of, in memory of a pet, or perhaps a memorial bench for a loved one.
Another exciting option is for me to carve a tree stump in situ in a customer's garden. Carving standing timber gives a customer a unique chance to retain a tree that they have watched grow; and rather than lose it, it can be transformed into a thing of beauty, that can be appreciated for many years to come.
